(NEW) A few years back, Collings decided that they would take some of their guitars in a more traditional direction, altering a handful of specs and construction techniques to make instruments with a slightly warmer sound. The Traditional models have a thin nitro finish, are a little more lightly built on average. The resulting instrument, vs a standard issue Collings, usually has a rounder sound, with less heat in the midrange and a little deeper bass response. This one has guts, we can tell you that!
This D2HT has a Sitka spruce top and Indian rosewood back and sides. 1 11/16" nut with 2 3/16" string spacing at the saddle. Traditional neck profile, which is a fuller mod V with more meat in the shoulders. Rounded fretboard edges for vintage-inspired comfort. Sitka spruce braces with no tongue brace. New Traditional-style herringbone, pufling and rosette scheme. Includes TKL case.
The Traditionals are some of Collings' best sounding instruments, ever. They take a little of the "bite" out of the Collings voice, making them very pleasing to singer/songwriters and flatpickers who grew up on classic American flat tops.
