Collings 0001 Custom, Sinker Redwood Top, Mahogany Back and Sides - NEW

(NEW) Oh boy!  When Collings builds something on their own accord, with "off menu" woods or options, and then they offer to send it our way... we first try to compose ourselves, and then we say "Uh YES PLEASE!!!"

We've had the good fortune over the years, as a top Collings dealer, to get some prototypes and experimental builds, and this 0001 falls somewhere in that territory.  While not the very first sinker redwood build by the company, there have only ever been a handful up until now.  Collings never felt that they were getting what they needed in their cedar-topped guitars, structurally or sound-wise, so they understandably stayed away from other woods that fell on that tonal spectrum.  Well, lucky for us that redwood, especially the sinker variety, has both the stiffness and sonics to deliver the goods!  Indeed, this guitar still has Collings' signature articulation, but it also has an extremely quick response, and a sensitivity to a light touch (fingers or plectrum) that many Collings enthusiasts might find surprising... in the best way!

Sinker redwood top, mahogany back and sides.  Long 25 1/2" scale with 1 3/4" nut and 2 3/16" string spacing at the saddle.  Honduran mahogany neck with Collings' standard modified "V" neck profile, slotted peghead and diamond volute.  Style 1 appointments include tortoise body binding, 3-ring rosette, b/w/b top purfling and dot inlays on the fingerboard.  Ebony pyramid bridge, fingerboard and bridge pins.  Waverly tuners in nickel. 

Pick guard is included and can be installed before shipping, if you like.  Includes TKL hardshell case.
