(USED) To say that we love Kevin Kopp's Gibby-inspired guitars would be the understatement of the decade. We not only love them, but we own them, we play them every day. Being a Bozeman dweller, those guitars are just in Kevin's blood. But should it be any surprise that Kopp can also turn out a world-class dreadnought with a little more of a Nazareth flavor?
What we have here is a delightful long-scale, square-shoulder dreadnought in the Martin tradition, with the rare and intriguing combination of (lightly bear claw'd) Carpathian spruce on top and cascading Madagascar rosewood for the back and sides. It's a lovely combo, producing an instrument with plenty of tonal complexity, but also an unmistakable musical voice. It's got soul, if you know what I mean! It lives somewhere between singer/songwriter and serious flat picker, with just enough low-end snarl to be a little dangerous!
Cosmetically, it is understated, evoking a no-bone "21" styling where the woods get to be the real star. It is long scale with a rosewood fingerboard and bridge, 1 3/4" nut and 2 1/4" string spacing at the saddle. The mahogany neck has a gentle modified "V" neck profile, not too chunky by a long shot. The nut, saddle and pins are bone. Waverly tuners.
In very good condition with a few minor cosmetic imperfections, small dings and some wipe marks on the pick guard, a bit of finish sink at the center seam and some light fret wear. Includes hard case.
