(USED) As a mass manufacturer of acoustic guitars, we'd be lying if we said that Martin always got it right. Vs our top boutique brands, the standard line Martin guitars have a hard time maintaining consistency and quality. Thankfully, this is rarely an issue with the Custom Shop. Indeed, these instruments seem to have an attention to detail that takes them up a notch, and it's rare that the CS instruments don't capture that Martin magic.
This 000 will speak to fans of simplicity and bespoke instruments. At first blush, it looks quite plain, with its tight-grained VTS Sitka top and remarkably uniformly colored mahogany back and sides.... but to play it is to love it, it has an incredibly balanced sound that skimps on neither bass nor sparkle. The tone is dry, but also warm and satisfying.
The fun continues in the distinguishing custom details on this guitar. The fingerboard and bridge are "waterfall" Bubinga, and feature modified diamond abalone inlays. Other than thin purfling lines, the top is only ornamented by a thin abalone rosette, but the Madagascar rosewood bindings, end graft and headstock overlay will really grab your attention. The nut is 1 3/4" on Martin's comfortable modified low oval neck profile with PA taper. String spacing at the bridge is 2 3/16" and this instrument has the short 24.9" scale length. The tuners are Grover Sta-Tites.
Condition is excellent, with a couple of tiny dings near the edge of the top on the lower bout and a couple minor dings on the back. No fret wear.
Includes original hard case and all Custom Shop paperwork and specs.
