(USED) We get near constant requests for Collings guitars that are "players"... structurally sound in all ways, but possessing some of the bumps, bruises and scars of being well-used by real music makers. This CJ-35A just had its 10th birthday, it's no baby and from the looks of things, it was NOT babied! It has dings, scratches and chips proving that it has put in some time on the stage.
Adirondack spruce top, mahogany back/sides/neck and Collings' radiant sunburst finish. 1 3/4" nut, 2 5/16" string spacing at the saddle, short 24 7/8" scale length. The CJ-35 has a neck profile based on Collings' Vintage Now neck, so a little more meat in the shoulders than a typical C profile. Wenge fingerboard and bridge (light like rosewood, hard-wearing like ebony) with simple ivoroid body binding and two-ring rosette. The frets were replaced by Gold EVO by a top Austin luthier and show no wear. The guitar weighs in at 4lbs 5oz.
Ding counters need not apply. This one has obvious pick scratching above the sound hole and pick wear through the finish between the pick guard and the bridge, as well as a some finish chipping around the sound hole and on the lower bout bass side. There is a pretty healthy chip out of the back of the head stock, pictured. There are some short finish cracks on the sides as well as a small impact crack on the bass side near the tail block which appears to be stable. The saddle has been lowered slightly from factory and K&K pickup and strap button are installed. Includes hard case.
Far from perfect and priced accordingly, but full of mojo.
