2010 Kevin Kopp AJ, Adirondack Spruce, Brazilian Rosewood, Sunburst - USED - SOLD

SOLD

ON CONSIGNMENT, NO TRADE OFFERS PLEASE!

(USED) We are very, VERY happy to present one of the best Kevin Kopp guitars, and indeed one of the best classic Jumbo guitars by any builder, that we've ever had the pleasure of playing!  This AJ (Advanced Jumbo) by the extraordinary Mr. Kopp is just crazy good... it has a big, authoritative rumble, an exquisite midrange bite, and would you just look at that sunburst!!

Back in the day, the long-scale Advanced Jumbos were designed to compete directly with Martin's popular dreadnought.  They weren't as popular as the better-known short scale models like the J35 and J45, and because of the relative scarcity of vintage examples, there has developed something of a legend around this design.  AJs are prized by collectors as one of the top flat-top designs in history.  Play this guitar and you'll know exactly why!

What we appreciate so much about Kevin's instruments is that he gets the look, feel and sound of the best vintage Gibby guitars, every single time.  Each Kopp guitar seems to be imbued with a kind of magic, a musical soul that we don't always hear in instruments from bigger shops, regardless of quality or price level.  Kevin gets it, and we get Kevin.  Ok, let's get you some specs...

Adirondack spruce top with Kevin's stunning hand-rubbed sunburst.  Dark Brazilian rosewood with moderate figure and some spider-webbing.  Long 25 1/2" scale with 1 3/4" bone nut and 2 5/16" string spacing at the saddle.  Pronounced "V" neck profile has a vintage profile but doesn't feel overly clubby or chunky.  Madagascar rosewood fingerboard and bridge, abalone fingerboard inlay and peghead flourish, Brazilian rosewood headcap and heelcap.  Ivoroid binding on the body and neck, Waverly nickel tuners.  Desirable traditional open-book peghead shape, since discontinued on Kevin's guitars.

The condition is great for a 12 year old guitar, with some very light lacquer chips on the bass side of the peghead (pictured) and just a bit of lacquer sink along the dark figure lines on the Brazilian back (Kevin uses an extremely thin layer of nitro, so a small bit of finish sinkage on figured wood is not unusual).  This guitar had a subtle seam separation develop while it was in the care of another shop, and we had it sent back to Kevin for a repair and touch up before it came to us.  He has given it a clean bill of health!  The frets have just the faintest signs of use under the B string, but have many, many years of use left in them.  Includes original hard case.

Next-level, vintage Gibby tone in a modern guitar, built by one of the best.  This one is special, folks.
