(USED) Here's a cool piece of mandolin history, having its golden anniversary right here at our store!
This Dobro resonator/reso phonic mandolin was the first off the line when the company began reproducing these instruments in 1974, evinced by the 101 serial number. It appears to have a maple body, stained to match a mahogany neck. The fingerboard is rosewood.
Built to look like a squat little guitar, this mandolin really does its own thing, and sounds different to our ears than other reso phonic mandos. It's not all volume and brashness (though it has those in certain measure) more that it has an airy quality and depth to it that we like.
Condition is good with plenty of bumps and bruises, finish checking, tarnish on the cover plate and pitting on the bridge cover. The frets are actually in very good condition, but they are quite tiny. Includes rectangle hard case.
Serial #101
