Kevin Kopp K-200T Classic, Torrefied Sitka Spruce, Maple, Relic Finish - NEW - SOLD

SOLD

(NEW)
We are psyched.  It is a rare event (twice per year, on average) where we receive a new batch of guitars from Kevin Kopp... but even more rare that we get to present a "never been done", something that hasn't yet been available anywhere, and here we have such a guitar: Kevin's extraordinary take on the 17" super jumbo model, which he calls his K-200, in *Classic* appointments and with the new, super-thin, ultra cool "closet relic" finish!  This thing smokes!

We'll hold in our excitement long enough to at least describe it to you:  Torrefied Sitka spruce with beautiful medullary grain patterns, and making Kevin's world-famous hand-rubbed sunburst look even more impressive.  Flamed maple back and sides, again, not suffering a bit in the looks department.  The *Classic* package finds us awash in classy appointments including bound sound hole, inner purfling line on the top, bound fingerboard and pick guard.  It's a bold cosmetics package, fit for such a big and bold guitar.

The K-200 is a LONG SCALE (26") guitar, this one has a comfortable C neck with 1 3/4" nut width and 2 1/4" string spacing at the saddle.  The rosewood fingerboard has gorgeous large block inlays. The peghead has a custom art deco flourish, and the relic Waverly tuners and Kevin's "closet relic" finish complete the presentation.  Kevin's super-thin close relic lacquer finish introduces subtle finish checking all over the body.  Because the lacquer has had the surface tension broken, the guitar vibrates and sounds like a well-worn vintage guitar.  And the sound of this guitar.... my goodness.  It's just outstanding.  The super jumbo, though big, ain't always trying to sound "bad" and indeed this guitar has a sweetness, a musicality, and a richness to it that really hits the spot.  Strummed or picked, it satisfies abundantly and completely.

Will it last?  Probably not.  Is there a better super jumbo being made today?  Not likely.  The player who takes the plunge on this guitar is never going to look back.
