(NEW) If you consider yourself a big fan of the dreadnought size (we all know that no other guitar sounds quite like a dread, much as they try) but you're yearning for some new and exciting tonal avenues to explore, then we've got just the thing for you: cast your gaze to this beautiful new D-RH from the great makers at Huss & Dalton!
While you don't see redwood on all that many dreadnoughts (or all that many guitars overall, when compared to spruce) this is actually territory that we've covered before. With help from H&D, we've learned that redwood has plenty to recommend it when used for this size. The new experience for us is pairing it with Wenge on the D-RH, first time there! We are absolutely pleased with the results. It has a great dynamic range that could suit plenty of styles, but it also has a percussive edge that makes it a serious rhythm guitar.
The D-RH model is Huss & Dalton's twist on the square-shouldered dread, with a larger sound hole than their traditional offering and a tighter radius to both the back and top. Their design always hits our ears right, rich in low end but with great note separation and plenty of volume. This one is long scale with a 1 23/32" nut, 2 1/4" string spacing at the saddle, and a satin modified "V" neck profile. For cosmetics, it has maple binding, herringbone rosette and top trim, diamond inlays on an ebony fingerboard and gold Gotoh tuners. Price includes original hard case.
