Collings D1AT, Traditional Model, Adirondack Spruce, Mahogany, Satin Finish - NEW - SOLD

SOLD

(NEW) Once considered a hallmark of inexpensive guitars, more and more players are falling in love with the feel of a nice, thin satin finish.  First introduced on their Waterloo guitars and then the Julian Lage OM models, the satin finish option has now grown quite popular with the Traditional series at large.  We'll stick to our story that if it says Collings on the headstock, it's going to be great!

This D1AT has the aforementioned satin finish option, a creamy looking Adirondack spruce top, and tried and true Honduran mahogany for the back, sides and neck.  They've done a good bit of tweaking on the Traditional neck carve over the years, and we think that most players will be very happy where they've arrived: a modified V with a bit of a vintage hand feel, but not a baseball bat by any measure, and pretty far removed from the big 2016/17 prototype necks.  As with all the Traditional models, this guitar has a lighter build, forward-shifted Sitka braces with no tongue brace, a small maple bridge plate and a thin nitro finish with no vinyl sealer.  The focus is on responsiveness and an undeniably warmer midrange than the standard line Collings offerings.

1 3/4" nut, 2 5/16" string spacing at the cut-through saddle, long 25 1/2" scale.  Other appointments include tortoise body binding and bridge pins, ebony fingerboard and bridge, dot fingerboard inlays and relic'd Waverly tuners.  Includes TKL hard case.
