Collings 001 14-Fret, Engelmann Spruce, Figured Black Walnut - NEW

(NEW) Some tone wood combinations just compliment each other so well... this 001 has a warm, inviting voice thanks to a combination of creamy Engelmann spruce and attractive figured walnut.  Being a small-bodied guitar, one might worry about compression or stridency when played with gusto, but on this instrument those are nowhere to be found.  On small-bodied guitars, we hear walnut as more or less a mahogany substitute in terms of general tone, but sometimes it surprises us with some extra sustain.

1 3/4" nut, 2 3/16" string spacing at the saddle, short 24.9" scale length.  1-Style appointments include b/w/b top purfling, tortoise body binding, ebony fingerboard with dot inlays.  Mahogany neck with modified V profile.  Tuners are nickel Waverly.
