(NEW) We regularly brag on our local builder Chuck Baleno as a master of building small guitars, and his parlor, 0 and 00 models are some of the best anywhere. Sometimes, though, Chuck will surprise us and show us that he can produce bigger instruments with just as much style and tone, and this SJ shows that off perfectly.
The materials selected for this guitar are out of this world! The torrefied Carpathian top has mesmerizing bearclaw pattern, and the Indian rosewood back and sides have a rich dark chocolate coloring to them. The visuals are set off even more by an abalone rosette, curly koa bindings and colorful diamond/square inlay pattern on the fingerboard.
Long 25.34" scale length with 1 3/4" compensated bone nut and 2 1/4" string spacing at the saddle. The fingerboard is ebony with a compound radius and stainless steel frets. The bridge and pins are ebony. Baleno uses hide glue on all tone related bracing, which combined with his scientific voicing methods produces a complex and rich sound. The tuners are Waverly and a hard case is included.
A very, very luxurious guitar that seems to do everything well!
