(USED) We like to tease that Bourgeois was a little late to the L-00 bandwagon, a shape that had been gathering a lot of steam since the late 2000s and one that now seems ubiquitous, with just about every shop turning out a version. This shape has been beloved by blues guitarists and singer songwriters since time eternal, but only recently has there been such a fabulous selection available at all times. We have one of those next-level ones for you today, an early Bourgeois LDBO that was featured at the 2016 NAMM show.
Like Martin did with the popular CEO-7 model, Bourgeois used the exact silhouette of a Gibson L-00 and more or less built up from there. This guitar doesn't have the compressed mid-forward sound of a Gibby, rather it has uncanny balance, serious warmth and no small amount of volume for its size. The tuxedo finish doesn't hurt, it's all class, all day.
Aged Tone (torrefied) Adirondack spruce top and braces, hide glue construction, mahogany back/sides/neck. Black painted top with ivoroid binding and cross-cut ivoroid purfling, simple 3-ply rosette design. The fingerboard and bridge are rather nice looking Ziricote, and we've got short scale with 1 23/32" nut width and 2.2" string spacing at the saddle. Neck depth is .82" at the first, .904" at the 9th, mod V shape. Ivoroid bridge pins, ivoroid buttons on the Waverly tuners.
Condition here is great for an almost 10 year old guitar, some very light pick swipes on the ivoroid pick guard and some swirl marks in the top from buffing. Includes original hard case.
