(NEW) Collings MT2 Mandolin, WIDE-NUT, Torrefied Adirondack Spruce, Tortoise Bindings, James Tailpiece, Collings Case – $4,320

JUST ARRIVED  – More Collings “Cooked”  WOOD!!

We sell about forty Collings mandolins each year and we like to think we get a bit smarter with each instrument.  We pick our own wood, and we pat our own backs, and we’ve got a sharp eye for the good stuff…

Here is a custom MT2 in dark sunburst with woods personally selected by us – with a highly figured back of flamed Sugar maple and a dark TORREFIED Adirondack spruce top.

The torrefied Adirondack spruce top, is ideal for someone who wants a loud mandolin that sounds a bit more “played-in” than a new Adirondack top. The torrefaction process is a thermo-curing process that simulates aging of the wood. This special mandolin has lots of warmth and a full throaty sound. But it also has all that Collings “pop” as well.

We feel the MT-2 instrument represents the best buy in Collings’ mandolin line, and this one is just unique enough that someone who perhaps already owns a fine F model might be able to justify having this as his or her “second” mandolin.

What else?  It’s got those pretty TORTOISE bindings, nickel Golden Age tuners with black knobs, nickel James tailpiece, and the slightly w-i-d-e-r 1 and 3/16″ nut width. It is a lovely thing indeed.
