(USED) Santa Cruz OM Custom, Bearclaw European Spruce, Cocobolo, Wood Binding – ON HOLD

(USED) We are most pleased to be presenting this gorgeous custom Orchestra Model from the Santa Cruz Guitar Company!  A lifetime OM if ever there was one, this guitar brings together impeccably selected woods and the magic touch of Richard Hoover, creating an instrument that looks and sounds incredible.

Let’s talk about those incredible looks for a moment… the first thing you see when you open the case is the aggressive bearclaw figure on this European spruce top.  Tops like this don’t come along every day!  The top purfling is a simple black/white/black fiber strip, and the minimal wood rosette and stealthy wood bindings are all a beautiful contrast to the top’s creamy color.  Things start to get even more interesting as your eyes move around to the back and sides, revealing a gorgeous set of highly figured Cocobolo, with perfectly book-matched sapwood near the neck block and tail block and of course stretching the entire length of the back.

We love Cocobolo for its rich, complex tone, especially when paired with a stiff Euro or Adirondack top, and this guitar has tone for days!  It’s one of the louder OMs in the shop, with a thick, rich low end, slightly scooped (read: “Martin-esque) mids and sparkly trebles.  It is a lovely, lovely sounding instrument.

Specs include full 25.4″ scale, 1 3/4″ nut and 2 1/4” string spacing at the saddle.  Fully bound neck and peghead, Waverly open-back tuners and custom abalone logo.  Ebony fingerboard with small dot inlays, ebony bridge and pins.  The condition is excellent, with some pick marks on the pick guard, hardly any fret wear.  Includes original hardshell case.
