(USED) Here we have a late model, EX+++ condition John Mayer signature Martin OM. As most people know, Martin doesn’t seem to do anything too wild with their signature guitars, often just a set of cosmetic appointments that reflect the artists tastes and a signature inlayed into the fingerboard. It’s an approach that has served them well, as evidenced by the massive success that they’ve had with their Eric Clapton model.
For the most part, this OM-JM follows that same philosophy, but there are some points that make it well worth considering: it has an Engelmann spruce top, softer and more “easily excited” than the standard Sitka found on most OM-28 guitars. This means that it has ample volume and warmth, even when played with a lighter touch. Indeed, it’s very lively for a “newer” Martin.
The cosmetics say “deluxe” without being over the top… abalone rosette, herringbone top trim, combination dot and diamond fingerboard inlays, abalone dots on the bridge pins, and the aforementioned inlayed signature. There is an aging toner used on the top, giving it a slightly older appearance.
The nut and string spacing are slightly narrower than on most modern OMs, 1 11/16″ and 2 1/8″, respectively, so this guitar will appeal to fans of faster playing necks.
This instrument doesn’t have a mark on it, no fret wear to speak of.. jump on it!
