(USED) Just in on consignment, a very cool Custom Shop Martin, built in Nazareth PA. This 14-fret 000 is a combination of great appointments and compelling tonewoods, and the resulting instrument has a great sound and plenty of personality.
The top is tight-grained Adirondack spruce, nothing too unusual there… the braces are also Adirondack spruce, 1/4″ scalloped in the 6A “Golden Era” pattern. The back and sides are a very beautiful quilted Pommele, a species of African mahogany. It’s really something to look at, and has a deep three dimensional figure to it. This guitar has hot hide glue construction, just like they used in the old days. Important to note, though this is designated a 000 it is in fact long/OM scale length, 25.34″ which helps to explain why this guitar has so much volume. The neck is a 30s Style V, a relatively full profile that is still comfortable to play. The nut is 1 3/4″ and the string spacing at the saddle a generous 2 3/8″.
The cosmetics are simple and elegant, with Brazilian rosewood bindings and headcap, and b/w/b top purfling with a subtle maple strip. Simple dot inlays on the ebony fingerboard. Waverly open back tuners.
Condition is EX. No dings, scratches, cracks or fret wear to report. Comes with original hardshell case and Martin Custom Shop spec sheet.
