(2000) This 15-year old Collings D42 custom SUNBURST in AAA grade Brazilian RW, Adirondack spruce and all the tone a man (or woman) could ask for. A fifteen year old guitar that is in essentially new condition, with abalone flowerpot inlay on peghead, gold Waverly tuners, 42 style fretboard inlay, abalone top border, 1 and 3/4″ nut width, 2 and 3/16″ saddle spacing, drop in saddle, and tone for days….One of the finest things money can buy. A trophy for a life well lived. Includes old style off-white (Canadian) Calton case.
If you’re looking at this, you know what we’ve got here. We’ve sold our share of these, but NONE finer than this. It has DEAD-STRAIGHT quarter sawn Brazilian Rosewood (AAA) and a gorgeous sunburst. The guitar was re-finished by Collings to bring it back to cosmetic perfection. It has a few light (positively inconsequential) scratches, but it is a prize.
Tonally, it has no peer. As Brazilian rosewood dreadnoughts go, it has power, warmth, brilliance, complexity, and that harmonic chime that comes only from Dalbergia Nigra.
No exports (USA sales only) No trades. No apologies.
