SOLD – (USED) Collings CJ – CJMhaSSsb-Varn custom Sunburst, Varnish, Adirondack, Braz. parts! – SOLD

(USED) Now here is another truly unique and special Collings CJ.

This one is a custom Collings CJMhAssSB-varn (“Collings Jumbo, Mahogany, Adirondack, short scale, sunburst, varnish”) We built a run of these, three or four, back in 2008-2009) back when we could still get Brazilian rosewood parts for fretboard and bridge (we no longer can).

We were going for classic bold sounding mahogany short scale jumbos with the added appeal of varnish, Braz. parts, and cosmetic flourishes. The pictures speak for themselves. They were some of our favorite CJs. The sound has all the fullness you would expect from a jumbo, and all the woody tone that you would expect from a varnish instrument… but by making them short scale, Collings has also found an undeniable sweetness to the voice.

Also rare are the Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and bridge (long off the menu for acoustic builds from Collings) and the knockout-gorgeous Braz peghead overlay. The body and neck is bound in ivoroid, creating a lovely contrast with the walnut-stained mahogany. The nut width is 1 11/16″ and the string spacing at the saddle 2 3/16″. There is negligible fret wear, and only the lightest signs of use.

It has the beautiful “flourish” on the peg head over a jet black ebony headstock veneer, the style three backstrip, nickel Waverly tuners with ivoroid knobs, and the distinctive “MOM” inlay.

A wonderful guitar, it is distinctive in its tone and fun in every way to play.

Because this guitar has Brazilian rosewood parts (and also ivory bridge pins and saddle) it cannot be shipped outside of the USA. It must be sold and shipped within the USA.

This custom guitar is here on consignment – NO TRADE OFFERS, PLEASE!
