(USED, MINTY!) Here is a stellar example of the Collings CJ-35, a twist on their standard jumbo model that takes it in a more vintage-inspired direction. The goal with this model was to make a slightly warmer, slightly mellower version of the standard CJ, one that might remind the player more of a classic wartime Gibson… but of course, Collings being Collings, your typical CJ-35 sounds HUGE, loud and clear! They can be driven hard with a flatpick, but they also excel at blues and fingerstyle playing.
This guitar, built in 2015, is as clean as they come. It features a Sitka spruce top with Collings perfect sunburst, and dark-stained mahogany back and sides. The neck is Collings’ slightly fuller “Vintage Now” carve, and features a 1 3/4″ nut and 2 3/8″ string spacing at the saddle. Short (24 7/8″) scale length, Wenge bridge and fingerboard, ivoroid binding, bridge pins and headstock logo. Waverly open-back tuners with ivoroid buttons. Comes with original TKL hardshell case.
The price is right, and these used CJ-35s never hang around for very long!
