(USED) Bourgeois Aged Tone Vintage D, Dreadnought, Brazilian – SOLD

(USED) Dana Bourgeois turned the acoustic guitar world on its head a few years ago with his Aged Tone series, which feature torrefied Adirondack spruce tops for a more broken in, vintage-inspired sound and response. By combining these tops with a newly developed super-thin finish, as well as hide glue construction, Dana has finally found the “sound in his head”, the culmination of 40 years of experience building and repairing some of the best guitars in the world.

We are fortunate to have taken on trade this incredible instrument, originally sold at our store and now coming back to us in immaculate condition… other than a slight shining up of the matte finish neck and a few very faint dings on the top, you’d have a hard time telling this guitar had ever been owned.

Let’s get into the specifics: As stated above, this guitar has a torrefied Adi top. The back and sides are a chocolatey Brazilian rosewood, more even in figuring than a lot of the wood we see these days. The styling is classic, with herringbone top trim, cross-cut ivoroid binding and fossilized bone pins. The nut width is 1 23/32″ on this one, with 2 1/4″ spacing at the saddle.

The sound is warm and balanced, with the high-overtone content of a rosewood dread being nicely tempered by Dana’s legendary top voicing. It’s a strong strummer that also has enough clarity in the mid range to give it an edge for lead playing… long story short, it’ll cut through the mix. Indeed, there might not be a better dreadnought for recording than the AT Vintage D.

With original TKL hardshell case.
