(USED, EX+++) What a pleasure it is to be able to offer this fairly recent Collings dreadnought with to-die-for, perfectly quartered old-growth BRAZILIAN rosewood back and sides! This is certainly one of the last Braz guitars to leave the Collings shop, and who knows how long they were saving this very special set of wood… if we were back in the grading days, they would run out of room on the label, there would be too many A’s!
Yes, yes. We can get cute with these descriptions, but this isn’t mere hyperbole… just one of the finest things that money can buy, and in this condition, exceedingly rare! No dings, no dents, no scratches, no cracks, nary a swirl on the pickguard, and no fret wear whatsoever, this D2H is as clean as it gets. Looks like it was driven only on Sundays, if it was driven at all. The sound is loud, bold, exceptionally clear. Not for the faint of heart, this guitar doesn’t have an “off” setting.
The Vintage Now neck profile has a 1 3/4″ nut and wider string spacing at the saddle, 2 5/16″ to be exact. In the first position, the neck is only .005″ thicker than the standard mod-V, but the fuller shoulder gives it a more substantial feel. This D2H also has a vintage-style cut-through saddle.
There isn’t much else we can say that the pictures can’t say better. A lifetime guitar is ever there was one. No trade offers on this guitar, please.
