(USED) 1996 Collings C10 Cutaway, Sitka, Mahogany, Sunburst – $3,695

(USED) Another “vintage” Collings has arrived!  This C10 dates from October of 1996, and is one of the earliest Collings guitars currently in our shop.  We get many calls for Collings guitars that are structurally sound but might have some “character marks” or “battle scars” and this is one of those instruments.  Ready to gig and not afraid of dings!

A rare early C10 cutaway, this guitar has a bursted Sitka spruce top, Sitka braces and Honduran mahogany back and sides.  It is full 25.5″ scale with Collings’ “C” neck profile and haircut headstock and a 1 3/4″ nut.  Waverly tuners.

The condition is very good for its age, with hardly any fret wear, though there are a number of dings on the back, a couple good ones on the top (not through the finish) and pick marks on the bass side of the soundhole.  The bridge appears to be re-glued, and there is finish/color chip out in the immediate area around the bridge.  There are some string scratches on the peghead, hard to see unless you’re looking very closely.  There is an under saddle pickup installed and a strap button in the correct location.

The sound is nice and open, with very little of the compression inherent to this size… and it’s loud!  This is a great gigging guitar, any way you slice it.  Comes with original hardshell case.
