(USED, VINTAGE!) Here is a wildly-cool handmade 12-string guitar from German luthier Thomas Reg’n, whose work seems to be very rare indeed in this country. It is very “70s” in every way, built like a tank and featuring bold appointments and a long open-book peghead.
This guitar has a big, authoritative voice, and plays very nicely in both dropped and standard tunings (we’re loving it tuned down one whole step). It has a zero-fret and the once adjustable-height bridge has been converted and moved back for better intonation. Smoooooth working Schaller tuning machines.
The top is solid Sitka and has a couple repaired/stable cracks in the lower bout. There is some lifting on the clear pickguard. The back and sides are very nice Indian rosewood with no pore-filler, and the finish has a dull sheen all over. A fair number of dings and scratches decorate the top, but there is hardly any fret wear and the condition is very good overall.
Includes original hardshell case and letter from the builder to the original owner!
Very cool! Very “Kottke”!!! This one scratches the itch for a 12-string in a big way.
