(NEW) Collings OM2H-T Traditional Orchestra Model, Sitka Spruce, Indian Rosewood – $4,770

(NEW) Over the last few years, Bill Collings and his team found their interest in older instruments rekindled, and the team set about creating a lineup of guitars with certain structural and spec changes that would help to evoke a more vintage-inspired twist on the (now classic in its own right) Collings sound.  The Traditional series guitars are the result of a few years of research, prototyping and collaboration with world-class musicians like Julian Lage and Uwe Kruger.

Verses the standard Collings build, the “T” series guitars have a lighter build, thinner nitrocellulose lacquer finish, animal protein glue construction, rolled fingerboard edges, a new robust neck carve (inspired by and a close cousin to the Vintage Now profile) and slightly redesigned cosmetic flourishes.  There is increased bass response, a warmer midrange, and an airy, musical quality to the overtones that make the tone profile of the Traditionals different from Collings’ other offerings.  We feel that they are some of the finest sounding instruments to come out of Austin, TX, or anywhere!

This OM2H-T has a Sitka spruce top with tight grain and uniform color, and the same can be said for the east Indian rosewood back and sides.  The “T” neck has a 1 3/4″ nut width and 2 5/16″ string spacing at the saddle, and these are full 25.5″ scale.  Cosmetics include ivoroid body binding, short pattern diamond and square fingerboard inlays and a redesigned herringbone top purfling.  The ebony bridge has a tall cut-through saddle.  The tuners are industry standard Waverly open-backs.

Every Traditional model comes with the hand-made Collings case, a beautifully designed vintage-style case that is lightweight and perfectly balanced for carrying this precious cargo.
