SOLD – (NEW) Collings OM1A JL, Julian Lage Signature Model, Adirondack, Mahogany, 1 11/16″ Nut – SOLD

(NEW) Here it is, folks, our first Julian Lage signature model OM1A.  As you may know, Collings almost never develops signature models, with this being only the second ever (after the late Pete Huttlinger).  But in the last few years, Collings found himself very inspired by both the perspectives and the playing of the one and only Julian Lage, and their friendship has born fruit in this, the OM1A JL.

Based structurally on the Traditional OM1A, there are two key construction specs that make this different from any other available Collings guitar.  Firstly, the neck carve is based on Lage’s own vintage Martin 000, with a 1 11/16″ nut width and a full yet fast shape.  This neck shape is exclusive to this model, in this nut width… 1 3/4″ OM1/OM1A JLs will have the standard Collings Traditional neck carve and string spacing.

The second and most obvious is the thin, satin nitrocellulose lacquer finish, adapted from the Waterloo line.  On the Adirondack spruce top, the finish is quite smooth and almost has a varnish appearance, while on the back and sides, the thinness reveals open pores in the Honduran mahogany.

This particular guitar is especially light weight, coming in at about 2 oz less than a standard OM1A Traditional.  The sound is somewhat dry, with a warmth that hits our ears more like Sitka than Adi… but when we hear the note separation and articulation, particularly up the neck, we know that this could only be the finest Adirondack spruce.

Other cosmetic touches include a throwback Collings logo on the peghead and relic’d Waverly open back tuners.  This guitar is the first acoustic from Collings to ship with D’addario Nickel Bronze strings, which we think contributes to the sweetness of the sound.  Includes Collings-made vintage style hardshell case.
