(NEW) These guitars are bluegrass incarnate… the Traditionals from Collings are some of their most powerful, with a warmer tone that really appeals to owners of vintage guitars. By using a thinner finish, animal protein glue and a larger neck profile, Collings has landed on both a sound and feel that is really exciting pickers everywhere.
This guitar has some of the most burly, wide-grained Adirondack spruce that we’ve ever seen on a Collings, and we LOVE it that way! We never second-guess Bruce’s wood selection, and his expertise is born out in the sound of this instrument. All Traditional models have scalloped Sitka spruce braces, no tongue brace, ebony fingerboards with rolled edges for comfort, a large-ish neck with the new “Traditional” carve (based on Collings’ Vintage Now profile) with 1 3/4″ nut width and 2 5/16″ string spacing at the saddle. Waverly tuners, of course.
Like I said, the sound just screams bluegrass. Warmer and rounder than the standard D1A, but with no less power and articulation.
Includes Collings-made vintage style case, fits the instrument like a glove.
