(NEW) Collings Baby 2H, Baked Sitka Spruce, Panamanian Rosewood – SOLD

(NEW) As worldwide supplies of the traditionally favored tropical tonewoods continue to diminish, many premiere builders are experimenting with some less widely known varieties, and to great success. The newest tropical hardwood in the Collings arsenal is Panamanian rosewood, and we think it sounds great on this Baby 2H!

This is also our first Baby with a “baked” or torrefied Sitka spruce top. Much has been written about torrefaction and its effect on tone, and to our ears, the process gives the guitar a more open sound, a quicker response and in most cases a volume boost. This is the case with this Baby, which happens to be screamin’ loud when pushed! The Panamanian rosewood gives a very focused sound to the overtones on this guitar, and overall there is lots of chime, particularly for a rosewood box.

The nut width is 1 3/4″ and the saddle spacing 2 3/16″, and with a scale length of just 24 1/8″ the Baby 2H is a breeze to play. This guitar has traditional “2” style appointments including herringbone top purfling, ivoroid binding and a volute on the back of the peghead.

A unique and distinctive guitar, and a first for us! Is there anything Collings can’t do?

Includes original TKL hardshell case.
