(NEW) Thirty years ago, Dana Bourgeois and Eric Schoenberg set out to design the ultimate fingerstyle guitar, one that used the venerable Orchestra Model as its jumping-off point, but added top-tier exotic tonewoods, a soft cutaway for upper fret access, elegant appointments and of course Dana’s masterful voicing techniques. Thus, the Soloist was born, and now in 2017 we are happy to present this commemorative guitar, #6 of only 12 being made for the 30th anniversary of the model. It… is… wonderful!
This guitar features absolutely unbelievable Cocobolo on the back and woods, with dramatic landscaping, spider-webbing, sap wood and a color palette that ranges from brown to red to gold to blonde. It’s the kind of wood you can lose yourself in, and the sound is just as compelling as the visual. This guitar has a big yet refined voice, sustain for days, a quickness of attack and a robust low end that make it, at the risk of sounding redundant, probably the ultimate fingerstyle guitar. Add a master-grade bearclaw German spruce top, and like us you won’t be able to look away.
Specs include 1 3/4″ nut width with 2 5/16″ string spacing at the saddle. Long scale. Pyramid bridge with Soloist inlay and antique walrus ivory pins. Ziricote body binding with maple and b/w/b purflings. Chevron backstrip. Soloist inlay on the heelcap.
This guitar comes with a special label signed by Dana Bourgeois and Eric Shoenberg. We won’t be getting another one of these, only 12 made!
