(NEW) Ladies and gentlemen, we have a smash hit on our hands with these JOM-Ts from Bourgeois Guitars. New for 2017, Dana decided that he would take his already beloved Jumbo OM shape and offer the option of retaining standard Orchestra Model depth, much like a Martin 0000 or M model. In Dana and crews able hands, the results have been revelatory. These guitars have about the highest volume to comfort ratio that we could imagine! The bigger box means more volume and bass response than a standard OM, but the thinner body depth and skinny waist mean pure comfort to hold, seated or standing… what’s not to love about that?
This particular guitar is our first “Country Boy” JOM-T, with a torrefied Aged Tone Adirondack spruce top, Adirondack spruce braces, and Honduran mahogany back and sides. It is full scale, with a 1 23/32″ nut and 2.2″ string spacing at the saddle. It has tortoise body binding, and ebony fingerboard and bridge, a figured Ziricote peghead overlay and an overall classic, understated look.
That SOUND, though! Dreadnought volume, easy. Satisfying bass, crystaline highs and an uncanny, even note response everywhere on the fingerboard. Aged Tone tops on mahogany translates, to our ears, as “mahogany on steroids” and if you don’t like the sound of this guitar, then you just ain’t into guitars!!!
An absolute home run, the first of many, many mahogany JOM-Ts that will grace our humble lumber emporium.
