(NEW) Bourgeois Bryan Sutton LTD. D-150 Brazilian Rosewood, Aged Tone! (#19 of 30) 1 and 23/32″ nut – $10,485

(NEW) Bourgeois Bryan Sutton LTD, Brazilian Rosewood, Aged Tone, Powerful Dreadnought!

We were thrilled to have had EIGHT of the truly exciting limited edition Bryan Sutton Limited Edition Aged Tone dreadnought guitars.  Developed in a close cooperation with Mr. Sutton, these guitars featured the first use of Aged Tone™ (torrified) Adirondack spruce braces. These guitars featured Master Grade Brazilian Rosewood, selected by Dana Bourgeois specifically for the model, and a limited number made for export with Master Grade Madagascar Rosewood. We have sold SEVEN of the guitars and one remains.

Eighteen years ago, Bryan Sutton burst onto the bluegrass scene with Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder, capturing the immediate attention of the bluegrass world and beyond. Thousands of performances, hundreds of recordings and seven IBMA “Bluegrass Guitarist of the Year” awards later, Bryan is widely regarded as finest flatpicker of his generation and among the most tasteful players in the history of the genre.

Bryan’s first Bourgeois guitar was a throaty, raucous-sounding Slope D that he dubbed “The Banjo Killer”. However, the guitar probably first seen and heard by most Bryan Sutton fans was a Bourgeois Brazilian/Adirondack D-150 that was used extensively on Ricky Skaggs’ groundbreaking album, “Bluegrass Rules” (1997), on Bryan’s influential solo album, “Ready To Go”, (2000), and in countless stage performances.

The Bryan Sutton Limited Edition Aged Tone™ Dreadnought is re-creation of Bryan’s 1997 D-150, incorporating not only the look, feel and sound of the original, but much of its broken-in vibe as well. According to Dana, “To say that the original is now well-played is something of an understatement. The idea behind the Limited Edition is to get as close as possible to that same elusive, broken-in sound. The new version will still require some playing to achieve the fullness, immediacy and ‘old friend’ feel of the original, but we are convinced it will not require seventeen years of playing by a picker as prolific as Bryan!”

Bryan, who has been test driving our Aged Tone guitars since the earliest prototypes, agrees. He recently reports, “The newest prototype is already opening up . . . I hear a real voice developing. I’m taking it to Telluride today.”*

The Bryan Sutton Limited Edition Aged Tone™ Dreadnought features premium Brazilian rosewood back and sides, an Aged Tone Adirondack top, hide glue construction and the familiar D-150 trim package (triple-bound ivoroid body, fretboard and headstock, abalone rosette, squares and diamonds fretboard inlay, fossil ivory pins).

Additional features, unique to the Limited Edition, enhance the vintage look and broken-in sound of the guitar. These include Aged Tone Adirondack braces, double-scalloped Banjo Killer-style X bracing, a new, ultra-thin version of his standard Aged Tone finish, and a vintage-style” long” saddle.
