(NEW) We’re very excited about the new instruments that Beard began producing in 2017. They continue to innovate in the small world of resophonic acoustic and electric guitars, and for our money, there’s nothing better. The latest addition to their line is the Deco Phonic, a bare-bones wood-bodied reso with and old soul. Built with Finnish birch veneer construction, these instruments have a dry, throaty voice, reminding us of the sound of some of the oldest examples from Dobro et al.
The nut width is 1 23/32″ and the neck profile is a very comfortable oval, nothing like the baseball bat necks sometimes found on vintage examples. It’s also got a short 25″ scale, so the Deco Phonic is a joy to play. This example also comes equipped with the Jerry Douglas Signature series Fishman Nashville pickup system, so it’s ready for the stage.
Beard keeps the cost under control by using a semi-gloss finish and economical Golden Age tuners, so the resulting guitar is easy on the ears and the wallet! We really couldn’t be more impressed with the sound and build quality on the Deco Phonic, especially at this price.
