(NEW) Baleno Size 2 Parlour Guitar, Carpathian Spruce, East Indian Rosewood – $2,995

(NEW) Without a doubt, and by a large margin, Chuck Baleno’s Size 2 is our favorite modern parlour guitar.  Mr. Baleno uses modern voicing methods to produce a guitar that punches well above its weight class.  In fact, it’s not unusual in our shop to hear a big, bold dreadnought being strummed, only to turn the corner and find out it was a Size 2!

The Size 2 has a lower bout that is 12 3/8″ at its widest point, with a body depth of 3 7/16″ at the neck block and 4″ at the tail.

This example has elegant, understated appointments, with the focus on premium tone woods and compelling sound.  It has a creamy, tight-grained Carpathian spruce top, which is a medium-stiffness top wood reminiscent of European spruce.  The back and sides are east Indian rosewood, which gives a satisfying roundness to the sound, but thanks to Baleno’s voicing never gets fuzzy or mushy sounding.  All of the detail is present, and the string to string balance is excellent.  Other features include maple binding, stainless steel frets (they’ll outlast you!) and fully compensated nut and saddle, for perfect intonation.

Specs include a scale length of 24 3/8″, nut width of 1 3/4″ and a 2 1/4″ string spacing at the saddle.  Ebony fingerboard and pyramid bridge, simple black/white/black purfling and simple three-ring rosette.  Mr. Baleno uses a traditional nitrocellulose lacquer finish and it is as good as we’ve ever seen.  Engraved Golden Era tuners. Includes original hardshell case and a lifetime warranty to the original owner.

The last parlour guitar you’ll ever buy and the only one you’ll ever need!
