(NEW) Here is some BIG news!
A new model – based on the classic traditional BRAZILIAN ROSEWOOD dreadnought. No one builds a finer traditional dreadnought than Huss & Dalton. Trust us when we say that.
So, what’s new under the sun?
We’ve been working on a few special projects with our good friend Mark Dalton at Huss & Dalton Guitar Co. He (and we) are big fans of Bluegrass Flatpicking guitar in general and the styles of Clarence White, Tony Rice and all the rest. Mark and I wondered aloud how they might be able to bring Huss & Dalton’s own fresh approach and voicing to the whole “large sound hole” dreadnought concept.
We’ve sold several of these models now and we think they are the finest traditional dreadnoughts in the Huss & Dalton line. When the folks at Huss & Dalton found a perfectly quarter sawn set of Brazilian for us for this order, we decided to pull out all the stops and order this one with Hot Hide glue construction!
Fast forward twenty weeks…..just arrived at our humble lumber and tone emporium is Huss & Dalton’s large sound hole traditional dreadnought – a custom TDR model called “The Pilgrim” in honor of the Clarence (and Tony…and Doc…and Merle) standard “I am a Pilgrim.”
This big old Brazilian dread has everything you’d expect PLUS the added appeal of that large sound-hole thermo-cured specially voiced Adirondack Spruce top and Hot Hide Glue construction. And what does that get us? I’ll tell you what: A HUGE sounding very traditional warm dreadnought with fine-tuned openness and room-filling presence. It feels loose (not “tight” like many new guitars) and powerful with virtually-limitless headroom and vintage punch but with modern playability.
The custom guitar has 1 and 23/32″ nut, 2 and 7/32″ saddle spacing, 21 fret fretboard, large “The Pilgrim” sound hole and rosette, Greven dalmatian pick guard, V shaped neck, no fretboard inlay, no peg head inlay…..
The “cooked” Red Spruce top is golden brown. The sound is mature, loud, deep, and classic.
If you’ve always wanted a classic traditional dread with enough reserve power to carry the day, this is the one!
AMW Price: $ 9,895 (special: add a Calton case for $500!) It deserves one!
